Fortinet Training Advancement Agenda (TAA) Improves Cyber Awareness Globally
Through Fortinet’s Training Advancement Agenda (TAA) and NSE Training Institute programs, Fortinet continues to work toward closing the skills gap with training and certifications, career opportunities and key partnerships.
Fortinet has always had a strong focus on education and training initiatives in an effort to reduce the skills shortage and prepare the cybersecurity workforce of the future. These efforts are all part of our Training Advancement Agenda (TAA), which plays a key role in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

Fortinet Training Advancement Agenda (TAA) Helps Bridge the Cybersecurity Skills Gap
Our TAA is made up of numerous training and education initiatives and puts an emphasis on supporting key groups—including students, women, minorities, veterans, and children—to improve cybersecurity knowledge globally and support an increasingly diverse pool of talent. Some of these initiatives include:
1. Fortinet’s NSE Training Institute programs - The NSE Training Institute’s many programs contribute to our TAA by helping us extend our global reach, enabling us to bring training, certification, and resources to individuals in their local languages, helping support diversity and inclusion, and providing opportunities for employment to all populations.
a. Diversifying the Talent Pool – The NSE Training Institute continues to expand as we partner with organizations focused on supporting women, minorities and veterans. These partnerships bring untapped candidates into the cyber workforce by providing them with opportunities for training, certifications and connecting them with the Fortinet employer ecosystem.
b. Providing Fortinet curricula to students – Through our Security Academy Program—which currently includes almost 400 institutions in more than 85 different countries and territories—institutions are given access to Fortinet’s NSE Certification Program content to integrate into their own curriculum, along with exam vouchers for those who complete the course, in order to prepare students for a career in cybersecurity and help develop the next generation of security professionals.
c. NSE Certification Program – One year ago, Fortinet announced the availability of all its advanced, self-paced training courses free of charge to continue supporting the development of the cybersecurity workforce. And with more than 1 million registrations to date, this program continues to provide valuable training to those looking to upskill, reskill, or learn new cyber skills.
2. Raising cyber awareness in young children – With the release of a new children’s book, co-authored by Fortinet’s Deputy CISO Renee Tarun, Fortinet is now helping to increase cyber awareness among children. The book provides an easy-to-understand introduction to possible dangers for children connecting online for school, video games, streaming shows, and more. The book also includes a guide for parents with details on what they should be looking out for when their children are online.
3. Charting new education pathways – Fortinet has also recently developed four new education pathways across critical areas in our industry, which help align Fortinet training and certifications with roles defined in the Cybersecurity Workforce Framework developed by National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), a part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). With these pathways, individuals can better understand how the courses they are taking today can increase experience and seniority for a current role, plan for career advancement, or make the jump into cybersecurity.
4. Delivering training via our Authorized Training Centers - Fortinet Authorized Training Centers (ATCs) provide a global network of training facilities that deliver expert-level training in local languages. There are more than 80 ATCs in 72 countries and territories that can deliver training in 22 different languages.
5. Continued collaboration on Cybersecurity Learning Hub – Fortinet, a founding partner of World Economic Forum’s Centre for Cybersecurity, partnered with Salesforce.com and WEF to create the Cybersecurity Learning Hub. The Cybersecurity Learning Hub helps empower individuals worldwide with cybersecurity training and education opportunities.
Through the above initiatives, Fortinet TAA supports the growth and diversification of the cybersecurity workforce and the Training Advanced Agenda helps improve the cyber awareness of people globally in an effort to create a safer, more secure digital world.
